Deactivation Success

I did it again... I deactivated my Facebook. Maybe I'm weird...but just maybe I'm brilliant. I wrote this in the car today while I waited for Josh to get fingerprinted for his new job.

Disconnect to reconnect,
with myself..with Nature.
My mind clouds with artificial intelligence.
I disconnect from my body.
I disconnect from the Earth, the ground, my true creator, my Mother.
If I threw it all away I'd probably only miss it for a few days,
before I reconnected and saw the beauty around me.
I'd live in the moment and not in the past or in the future.
I'd live my own life instead of reading about others.

My problems with Facebook are the following:
• I hardly ever want to actually post anything either because I don't actually want people to comment or because I actually do want people to respond and that's weird to me.
• I don't feel like I can truly be myself and express myself because I don't want to be persecuted or judged by the people who know me for business purposes and through my non-profit.
I AM LIBERAL AND I'M NOT CHRISTIAN!! I BELIEVE IN GOD BUT NOT THE DIVINATION OF JESUS CHRIST! : ) That would never fly over well.
• It weirds me out to read what people are doing day to day, not responding and also knowing what they had for dinner. I don't like prefacing a conversation with "So I saw on Facebook...".
• I think Facebook is a corrupt company. Period.

So what now? I have no idea. I'm just going to take a break. I might start up another account with just my family members, I feel like they are the only ones that I should actually be seeing what they are doing day to day.

Peace,
Erin

I Want More Than This Provincial Life

It actually seems like life could be like a Disney movie now...

So Josh got "the" job and now my life suddenly seems like it has possibilities. I hadn't really noticed or maybe I just haven't really wanted to look at the fact that until now I feel like I've been trying to play the life of the poverty stricken. It's all I've ever known since I was little. You work hard and you make it, but just barely. I'm a very driven person so I'm excited by what I can achieve with this new outlet. Maybe I'll be a millionaire by the time I retire, the possibilities are endless. : )

Cleanse Day 5

I had an extremely busy day at work today, two prenatals, infant massage and cranio session and then a 90 minute swedish. Still feeling good but I'm super sleepy tonight so no chit chat, just going to deliver the goods.

Breakfast: mixed berry smoothy

Lunch: Lentils, onions and tomato and a raw carrot.

Dinner: Salad with homemade dressing (grapeseed oil, garlic, lemon and a little sea salt), half a sweet potato and 1/2 cup of rice

No late night smoothy tonight, I'm still full from dinner

Cleanse Day 4

I went back to work today and did well. I was pretty busy between my sessions and getting office work done. I could have done better on the timing of my eating. I did a late session, got stuck in traffic and had to go to the grocery store before I came home so my dinner was late of my food was a little to sparse so I feel out of it now and really tired. I'm making it though!

Breakfast smoothy: blueberries, strawberries and banana.
\\

Lunch: brown rice and steamed veggies

Snack: Berries

Dinner: spaghetti squash, tomatoes, fresh basil and peppers

I got more supplies from the store today, lots of fruit, a bag of oranges, a bag of grapefruit, a bag of lemons, two full bunches of bananas, some peaches and my little bowl of berries (which the raspberries are tasting so good!), more garlic, basil, leeks, spinach, kale and lentils. I still have some veggies left from the last trip so I'm hoping this will hold us off till the end of the week.

Day 5 starts tomorrow, I think I'll be feeling like I'm getting somewhere on Sunday when I hit the weekly mark. I've been thinking that if I can hold out till then I may reform the cleanse to my needs and go ahead and eat some fish. We'll see if I make it to Wednesday or not!

Cleanse Day 3

Today was better! I don't think I got grouchy today at all. I did good eating and I hung out with my friend Michelle and her kids and we planted out feet in the ground. It was awesome! I felt very tall and floaty afterwards.

Food for the day! Morning smoothy was banana blueberry again and night time smoothy was stawberry peach. I'm going to have to start getting creative with my flavors soon.

Snack: green beans and grapefruit

Lunch: Artichoke and an orange

Dinner: Fennel and onions, green beans, tomatoes and of course the ever present water
I'm off to the grocery store tomorrow for more supplies. I need more fresh fruit and I can have lentils so I'd like to get some to mix it up a bit. I'll probably grab some more veggies too, I'm trying to keep it versified from week to week so I'm thinking of adding some leeks, chard, kale and then seeing what else looks appealing. Maybe beets! I haven't had them much and adding some more color couldn't hurt.

After 3 days and looking at our trash I realize how much I was eating out of a package. There's hardly anything in there besides compost, makes me really wish I had a composter!

Here's to day 4, I'll be going into work tomorrow but I have my lunch packed so I'm hoping to not get hungry.

Cheers,
Erin

Cleanse Day 2

Today was interesting just like any day on this crazy cleanse. I can't tell the difference in days either, maybe I've just been inside our house to long. Today I didn't eat enough food and therefore I was irritable and overwhelmed. I made my smoothy this morning but it turned into such a weird consistency that I eventually poured it out got on the computer and then started cleaning and feng shui'ing the house for a couple of few hours. Next thing I know it's 1pm and I haven't eaten anything yet. I made a quick snack of cauliflower and half an avocado then cooked some spinach, mushrooms, garlic and brown rice but it took awhile for everything to settle in. Then I continued to clean the house more which didn't help the irritation a whole lot : )

Tonight was more spinach, mushrooms and garlic with brown rice and sweet potatoes and onions. Right now I'm also sipping on my evening smoothy of strawberries and bananas. At least my meals are all very colorful. Still waiting for my skin to clear up but hey it's only been two days, let's give it a week. I don't have a scale to track my weight but I'm sure I'll be able to see some results in a week also.

60 supplements in the body so far and 406 left to be ingested.

It works if you work it!

Cleanse Day 1

It's day 1 of cleanse and I'm feeling excited and ready to get healthy! Now in a few days I may be bitching and cranky but that's okay, there's a light at the end of that tunnel too.

Today's morning shake was banana blueberry with 10 supplements and some powder. Yum! At one point today I had a splitting headache and I thought for sure that I was going to throw up. Instead my friend Michelle came over and gave me some much needed emotional and spiritual counseling and I felt like instead of physically vomiting I was in need of emotional vomit.

I continued to snack throughout the day on raw veggies and fruit. Dinner was a nice plate of spaghetti squash with tomatoes and a salad and a late evening shake consisting of mixed fruit. Tonight 20 more days is seeming like a long time but I'm looking forward to next Wednesday when I can eat some meat. I think I'll have some nice salmon smoked on the grill.

Wish me luck, I'm going to do this AA style and just say that I'm taking it one day at a time.

What does it all mean?

I didn't think I was actually going to do it but.... I deactivated my facebook account. I think this is going to be a good thing. I've already noticed that my brain has been programmed to sift through my day to day thoughts and actions for status updates and that is scary. Is it important for you to know that I really, really like avocados? If I were to post something like that what would I expect as a response? Would I want a response? Would I be disappointed if my "friends" didn't say anything at all? Even if it was simply to say "Me too!" or "I don't like them." or "Here is a great recipe for avocados." and then I would feel great because I liked avocados and so do you and then the next time we saw each other we could rejoice knowing that about each other.

So now what? I'm not a slave to the man anymore : ) I'm curious to see if I notice a difference or not. Maybe I'll follow the footsteps of a friend of mine and write "real time" letters, you know that old fashion kind that uses stamps.

The Facebook Project

So as I posted on Facebook, I am getting ready to disable my account in what I'm calling a social experiment to see what it's like to be off the grid. Over the last year as I've had my iPhone I've noticed more of a dependency on these social technologies to not feel so alone in my day to day life. More of my time is spent looking down then up and around. I don't remember feeling alone before my cell phone so I'm not sure what I think I'm missing. The next round will be to go without using my iPhone and see how that works. I'll need a regular AT&T phone. I'll still text, let's not get to crazy here! One thing at a time.

There is a deep desire in me to be unplugged and free. It begins Friday.
